SAP executive team overview

Founded in 1972 and listed on XETRA and the New York Stock Exchange as SAP, it reported full-year 2025 revenue of 36.80 billion euros, with cloud revenue of 21.02 billion euros, up 23 percent, and Cloud ERP Suite revenue of 18.12 billion euros, up 28 percent. SAP employed 111,397 people at December 31, 2025 and occupies roughly 1,492,000 square meters of office and datacenter space in about 80 countries. Christian Klein has been sole chief executive since April 2020. Through 2026 the company reorganized its executive board areas around AI, created a Customer Value Group under a new chief customer officer, and closed the acquisitions of Dremio and Prior Labs in July, committing more than 1 billion euros over four years to build Prior Labs into a frontier AI lab in Europe.

Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of the Executive Board
Christian Klein has run SAP as chief executive officer since April 2020 and holds overall responsibility for the corporate strategic direction, management and performance of the company. He joined SAP in 1999, became a member of the Executive Board in 2018, was named co-chief executive alongside Jennifer Morgan in October 2019 and took the role on his own in April 2020 when SAP returned to a single chief executive. His tenure has been defined by the shift of the customer base to cloud ERP and, from 2025 onward, by the reorganization of the company around business AI and the Autonomous Enterprise strategy.

Chief Financial Officer and Member of the Executive Board
Dominik Asam joined SAP in March 2023 as chief financial officer and member of the Executive Board. He is responsible for global finance and administration, which at SAP also covers legal, investor relations, internal audit, data protection, export control and government affairs. Before SAP he was chief financial officer of Airbus from April 2019 to February 2023, and he held the same role at the semiconductor manufacturer Infineon Technologies from 2011.

Chief Technology Officer
Philipp Herzig has been SAP's chief technology officer since January 2025, with responsibility for the technology and AI agenda that sits underneath the Business AI platform and the Autonomous Suite. He holds a doctorate in computer science from Technische Universitat Dresden, where he researched between 2011 and 2014, and he earlier worked as a project manager for the Software Campus programme at Technische Universitat Berlin and as a developer on predictive maintenance data mining. In April 2026 he also joined the supervisory board of Deutsche Telekom.

Chief Operating Officer and Member of the Executive Board, Strategy and Operations
Sebastian Steinhaeuser is SAP's chief operating officer and carries global responsibility for the Strategy and Operations board area, which covers corporate strategy, operations, global marketing and partner management. He first joined SAP in 2020 and became a member of the Executive Board in 2025, having supported the execution of company strategy and the simplification of its operating model. In the 2026 reorganization around AI he also took responsibility for industrial AI.

Thomas Saueressig became SAP's chief customer officer on April 1, 2026, when the company merged customer success, services and delivery into a single Customer Value Group and put selling, delivery, services and support under one leader. He joined SAP in 2004 and has been a member of the Executive Board since 2019, previously leading the customer services and delivery board area with global responsibility for long-term customer value in the cloud, premium engagements, customer innovation services and support, as well as cloud infrastructure, cloud operations, cloud lifecycle management and private cloud delivery. His contract was extended into 2028.

Muhammad Alam leads SAP's product and engineering board area and has global responsibility for all of its business software applications. He joined SAP in 2022 as president and chief product officer for the Intelligent Spend Management program and became a member of the Executive Board in April 2024.
