Chief Executive Officer and Head of R&D
Tobias Lütke co-founded Shopify in September 2004 and has served as its chief executive officer since 2008, having previously acted as the company's chief technology officer between September 2004 and April 2008. He worked on the core team of the Ruby on Rails framework and created widely used open source libraries such as Active Merchant. He chairs Shopify's board of directors and also sits on the board of Coinbase Global, Inc.
