Chief Executive Officer and Chairman
Michael Dell serves as chairman of the board and chief executive officer of Dell Technologies, the company he founded in 1984. He was chief executive officer of Dell Inc., now a wholly owned subsidiary of Dell Technologies, from 1984 until July 2004 and resumed that role in January 2007. In 1998 he formed MSD Capital, L.P., now DFO Management, LLC, the private investment firm that exclusively manages the capital of the Dell family, and in 1999 he established the Michael and Susan Dell Foundation. He is an honorary member of the Foundation Board of the World Economic Forum, an executive committee member of the International Business Council, a member of the Technology CEO Council and of the Business Roundtable, and chairman of the BDT and MSD Advisory Board. He was named the United Nations Foundation's first Global Advocate for Entrepreneurship in June 2014. He was non executive chairman of SecureWorks Corp. from December 2015 until its acquisition by Sophos Inc. in February 2025, and chairman of VMware, Inc. from September 2016 until its acquisition by Broadcom Inc. in November 2023.
