Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer
Arvind Krishna is chairman, president and chief executive officer of IBM, a role he has held since April 2020, having become chairman in January 2021. Over a 30-year career at IBM he built and expanded new markets in artificial intelligence, cloud, quantum computing and blockchain, and drove the $34 billion acquisition of Red Hat that defined the company's hybrid cloud strategy. He previously ran Cloud and Cognitive Software, where he pioneered the hybrid cloud business and reshaped IBM's software and services portfolio, and headed IBM Research. He founded IBM's security software business, helped create the first commercial wireless system, and sits on the boards of the Federal Reserve Bank of New York and Northrop Grumman.
